Yesterday was a busy day for Twitter trends in India. Twitter India trended on its own platform for having suspended select accounts, Rahul Gandhi entertained Twitter users again, #OpenYourLegs created controversy and #ScaryStoriesin5words continued to trend even after Halloween.

Before the day was over and trends had settled down on Twitter, news came in that a reporter was manhandled by none other than businessman Robert Vadra, son-in-law of Congress president Sonia Gandhi. According to NDTV, Robert Vadra angrily pushed away the mic of a reporter when he was asked about his land deals in Haryana. “Are you serious? Are you serious?” he snapped, adding, “Are you nuts? What is wrong with you?”

Robert who is a fitness enthusiast, was attending a private event last evening – a gym inauguration at a Delhi hotel. Robert was quite cool till the time conversation was about fitness and inauguration of the gym but he lost it when asked about his controversial land deals.

The Congress and Bhupinder Singh Hooda, who was the chief minister of Haryana till last month when the party lost the state election, have said that Robert’s property deals were legitimate and fair. However, BJP which has replaced Congress party in Haryana, has said that the real estate transactions will be investigated to determine if Robert made extra gains from the land deals.

Twitter audience was quick to react to the incident with #VadraAttackedJournalist beginning to trend; it is still trending at the top today.
