Jodie Meeks leading the Detroit Pistons to a victory is not something that happens often, especially considering that the Pistons do not win games often.

However, last night Meeks came off the bench to score 34 points shooting 11 for 16. This was the highest scoring game that a Pistons player has had all season, and he also set a record for himself with 9 three pointers in the game.

In addition to the outstanding night from Jodie Meeks, Andre Drummond added 17 points and 22 rebounds, and the Pistons beat the Orlando Magic in a blowout victory, 109-86. They are still one of the worst teams in the league, but perhaps things are looking up, as they are now on a 3 game winning streak.

This is the first time that the Pistons have won 3 games in a row since February of last season. The team has struggled over the past several years, and have not made the playoffs since the 2008-2009 season.

Possibly a future star for the Detroit Pistons, Jodie Meeks completely dominated the 2nd quarter of the game, and it was impossible for the Magic to come back after that. He scored 20 points in the second quarter, and after obtaining an 18 point lead in the third, the Magic couldn’t get the deficit under nine.

Following Tuesday night’s game, the Pistons have a record of 8-23, and the Magic are 13-22. The game was played in Orlando, and the Magic had previously beaten the Pistons in Detroit on November 17th.

The Pistons may be able to get another win to add to their streak as they are playing the New York Knicks next, one of only two teams that are worse than the Pistons in the current NBA standings.

Jodie Meeks is only in his first year with the Detroit Pistons as a five year veteran from the Kentucky Wildcats. He was drafted by the Milwaukee Bucks, and has since played with the Philadelphia 76ers and the Los Angeles Lakers. Could he help finally turn the Detroit franchise around to the way that they used to be?
