Ndamukong Suh, defensive star of the Detroit Lions, has been called the dirtiest player in the NFL, and continues to live up to his nickname. His latest suspension comes from an aggressive action against quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
According to the NFL, Suh unnecessarily stepped on the opponent’s unprotected leg as he lay on the ground unable to protect himself. However, the play was controversial since Rodgers did push him back after he was stepped on, and fans have been arguing whether or not Suh stepped on him on purpose.
Lions center Dominic Raiola, who was also suspended recently, had a few words to say about his teammate’s actions when saying “He was getting pushed back, you know. There’s no way at that point in the game that he did something like that on purpose.”
The veteran Ndamukong Suh is currently appealing the suspension, and his appeal will be heard by Ted Cottrell. He has been fined several times in the past, and most recently was fined $100,000 for a hit on Minnesota Vikings center John Sullivan last season.
Following the result of the Lions’ game against the Packers on Sunday, they slipped down to the 5th playoff spot, and the action by Suh may have cost them the season.
Without Suh, it is likely that the Lions will be without both of their first-round defensive tackle selections. Nick Fairley got injured in week 8, and it was recently said that it would take a miracle for him to play next week.
It is likely that the team will be forced to start C.J. Mosley and Andre Fluellen or Jason Jones at the defensive tackle spots. After losing to the Packers, and possibly being with both Fairley and Suh, is the season over for the Lions?
Ndamukong Suh becomes a free agent after this season. He's a 4-time Pro Bowler in 5 seasons with Lions.

The Lions defense has been dominant all year, and after finishing the season with a record of 12-4, they would have had a chance at the #2 seed, winning the NFC North, and a first-round bye, if they could have beaten the Packers in Green Bay, which they have not done since 1991.
If the suspension stands, Ndamukong Suh will miss the Detroit Lions’ playoff game, which is already going to be hard enough, as they have to travel to Dallas in order to face the Cowboys who have been destroying their opponents lately.
