Alicia Keys gives birth, welcoming her second son with husband Swizz Beatz. Genesis Ali Dean arrived on Dec. 27, weighing in at a healthy 6 lbs, 5 oz. The birth also means the couple’s other son Egypt Daoud gets a late Christmas present in the form of a younger brother.
According to Keys, Egypt is certainly thrilled.
“I think he’s super excited because he’s not going to be the youngest anymore. He’s always kissing my belly.”
For Keys, Genesis is her second child and the fifth for Beatz, who has two other sons and a daughter from a previous relationship.
After giving birth, Alicia Keys tweeted her excitement about being a mother to a second child. You can tell someone is excited when the word “joy” is used three times in a single 140 character tweet.

Keys and Beatz married back in 2010 and just three months before the Girl on Fire singer gave birth to Egypt.
It looks like Keys’ personal life is just as blessed as her professional career. Since the release of her debut album Songs in a Mirror in 2001, the 33-year-old singer has sold more than 35 million albums worldwide. In 2010, she earned a spot on VH1’s 100 Greatest Artists of All Time. She also cemented a number 10 spot in Billboard’s Top 50 R&B/Hip-Hop Artists in the Past 25 years.
While Beatz has not achieved the same level of fame as his wife, his name stands on its own. Aside from being an accomplished rapper, he has also made a name for himself as a creative director, record executive, painter, brand promoter, and fashion designer. He also earned a number 27 spot in About.com’s Top 50 Greatest Hip-Hop Producers.
By giving birth, it looks like Alicia Keys has given herself a gift in the form of a bundle of joy.
