The Carolina Panthers struggled for much of the 2014 season, and despite finishing with a below .500 record, they will advance to the postseason. It is only the second time that it has happened in the history of the NFL.
The Panthers were playing the Falcons in a game that would send the winner to the playoffs, and made a strong statement with a final score of 34-3. Cam Newton was playing in his second game since recovering from a back injury, and did not show it at all in the big win today.
However, Newton did not have to do much since they were up by such a large margin for much of the game. He was 10 of 16 passes for 114 yards and one touchdown during the game, while 14 of the 34 points also came from interceptions.
The Carolina Panthers have won the NFC South division title for the second year in a row, and will enter the playoffs with a record of 7-8-1. With the win, they obtain the 4th seed, and will be matching up with a beat up Arizona Cardinals team.

If they are able to play the way that they did in their game against the Falcons, they should at least be able to win their first game, and possibly more. Their team has been unpredictable to say the least this season, and even lost 6 games in a row in the middle of the season.
None of the teams had an above .500 record when the season concluded, and while the Panthers just squeaked in, they may able to do some damage come playoff time with their quarterback being healthy.
The Carolina Panthers will host the Arizona Cardinals in their next game, which will be one of the wild card games next weekend. The Cardinals have had plenty of drama at the quarterback position, now on to their third of the year with Ryan Lindley, but anything can happen when it comes to the playoffs.
