Monica Bellucci has been cast as the next Bond Girl for the upcoming 007 film Spectre. At 50, Bellucci, will officially be the oldest Bond girl in the franchise’s 24 installments. The title for oldest Bond girl previously belonged to Honor Blackman, 39, who appears in the third 007 film Goldfinger.
Spectre will feature the return of Daniel Craig for the fourth time as the leading role of Agent Bond. The buzz, however, is around Bellucci. Despite reaching the half century mark of age, the Italian actress has never looked more stunning. At a photo call for Spectre, Bellucci bedazzled the crowd in a black dress that conformed perfectly to her body.
Bellucci previously auditioned for the role of Bond girl back in 1997 during the casting call for Tomorrow Never Dies. That role eventually went to Teri hatcher.
In an interview about her Bond girl stint, Monica Bellucci made the following statements about the mythical and legendary figure that has become Agent Bond:
“James Bond is our fantasy – the ideal man. The man is a protector, he is dangerous, mysterious and sexy, and a perfect English gentleman.”
Other notable cast members include the return of Naomi Harris, who will be reprising her role as Eve Moneypenny from Skyfall. Professional wrestler Dave Bautista will also be joining the cast. He will be playing the role of Mr. Hinx. While the nature of the character is unknown, it’s safe to bet that he will be playing a villainous role as Bond films always need a muscle-bound henchman.
For Monica Bellucci, being the next Bond Girl will only add to her already impressive acting reel. She starred in all three Matrix films and was also known for her role as Mary Magdalene in the award-winning The Passion of the Christ. In addition, she has also graced the cover of countless magazines, including Maxim, Men’s Health, Esquire, and even a nude pose for Vanity Fair in 2004 while pregnant.
