Constantine Star Matt Ryan Wants To Be Included In DC Movie Universe

Comic book adaptations are very common today, and ‘Constantine’ on NBC has been met with mixed reviews so far. Matt Ryan, the star of the show, wants Constantine in the DC Movie Universe, and he wants to play him.

The big superhero shows on television at the moment are ‘Arrow’, ‘Gotham’, ‘The Flash’, and ‘Constantine’. Out off those comic book TV series’, Ryan’s is the one struggling the most.

Ryan as Constantine in the NBC show is hands down the strongpoint of the series. He has represented the demon hunter a lot better than Keanu Reeves did in the 2005 film, and about that movie he says:

“I liked the movie for what it was as a standalone movie. It’s not in the same space in my head though. Since I started this, I’ve delved into the comics and not really thought about the film. What’s funny is, I went out to dinner with a friend of mine the other day and she said, ‘Oh, a producer friend of mine is coming’, and he was the original producer of the Constantine movie. That was funny.”

Matt Ryan wants to be Constantine in the DC Movie Universe, and he says it would be an amazing experience as an actor to go from TV to film.

“I’m not sure. The show’s made by Warner Bros., which has the deal with DC, and it’s licensed to NBC, so I don’t know how the ins and outs of that work. But as an actor, how amazing would that be to do a crossover?”

Acclaimed director Guillermo del Toro has stated his interest in John Constantine being included in his ‘Justice League Dark’ project, saying:

“I would love to have The Spectre in it, because he’s one of the most..absolutely, beyond moral characters in this universe and he does crazy things…but, I’m happy with…they’re doing that with ‘Constantine.’ What I made clear to them is that the TV series will not affect the movie and they said that’s okay. They said you can have independence. Now, if we see the TV series and we can mesh with it or cast the same actor depending on where the movie is going, I would be happy to consider that.”

Matt Ryan as Constantine in the DC Movie Universe could very well happen, and the actor is happy to reprise the role if offered. Would you like to see Ryan as Constantine on the big screen?
