A 31 year-old Louisiana man named Jack Daniels Leathers has recently begun to capture the attention of the media for contributing to a tradition of excellence in the field of naming. Jack and his wife Lydia, 23, recently became the proud parents of a beautiful baby boy, on whom they bestowed a name sure to make a million people grin at parties- Jim Beam Leathers.
Jack says that the alcohol-themed naming tradition stated when his mom and dad where inspired by the need to chose a name for him which was sure to anger their own parents. He says it was his dad who was first struck with the idea to name his son after the popular whiskey he was drinking at the time and that his mom jumped on board with the plan.
Jack revealed that growing up sharing his name with a popular alcohol made for some hilarious experiences, especially when he joined the army. “Nobody believed my name until I showed them my ID,” he told his local paper, the Houma Today. “When I went into the Army, sergeants would yell, ‘How much more American can you get than Jack Daniels?’ I went through most of my Army career not hearing my last name because people would call me Jack Daniels.”
Jack and Lydia revealed that they’ve been planning little Jim Beam’s epic name since before they were married. Lydia said, “I’ve always tried to do stuff out of the ordinary, to do things differently than other people. It’s hard to find a name that you like that nobody you know has. It was all Jack‘s idea. I just went along with it.”
Jim Beam arrived on November 14 and can look forward to sharing in the naming fun with any siblings destiny may bring his way. His mom and dad have announced that the next boy born into the family shall be called “Evan Williams” whereas the next girl shall be dubbed “Sherry.”
Believe it or not, the 80 proof excellence doesn’t end with couple’s children. In a hilarious twist of fate, they were even able to locate a Terrebonne Parish Judge named Johnny Walker to preside over their wedding.
