Josh Gordon, the star receiver for the Cleveland Browns, has been suspended for the team’s final game of the season. He will miss the game for an unspecified violation of the team’s rules.
The Cleveland Browns got off to an unbelievable start to the season with a record of 6-2, but things have been going downhill for the team ever since. They lost to the Carolina Panthers last week, and suffered injuries to two quarterbacks during the game.
The team continues to have troubles at the quarterback position, and while Brian Hoyer started the season, due to injuries, they are now on to their third quarterback of the season.
The final game against the Ravens will give rookie Connor Shaw his first start in the NFL, and also make him the 22nd quarterback to start a game for the Browns since their launch in 1999.
Gordon’s time may be up in Cleveland after multiple suspensions and his free agency upcoming, but he wanted to be able to turn things around this year. Before returning to the field last month, Josh Gordon said “I just want to control what I can control, and that’s playing my hardest and working my hardest, 16 weeks next season and these last six games this season, however long I’m in Cleveland.”
Browns announced they placed WR Josh Gordon on reserve/suspended by club. Not a good way to end the season.

The news of his suspension comes just one day before their season finale against the Baltimore Ravens. Gordon led the NFL with 1,646 yards receiving last season despite being suspended for the first two games.
The Browns are already out of the playoffs with a record of 7-8, but with some help, the Ravens can still make the postseason. The Cincinnati Bengals clinched a spot with their win on Monday, while the Steelers clinched last Sunday in the competitive AFC North.
Josh Gordon has had a disappointing season this year, and already missed the first ten games due to repeated drug violations. The team almost traded him before the deadline, but wanted to remain hopeful that he could mature, and would not give him up for anything less than a first-round draft pick.
